This Burncast covers the 6th and final JBCR issue for 2020 (vol41). In it, Dr. Carson touches on a handful of articles from the issue. Namely… 1) A brief overview of the updated burn pain management guidelines published in this issue, 2) A retrospective study out of U Wisconsin looking at the impact of “multimodal” (pharmacologic modalities, that is) pain treatment on opioid requirements in burn patients, 3) a new retrospective cohort study out of Toronto examining the incidence and dynamics of AKI (acute kidney injury) at their burn center, 4) An article out of the United Kingdom examining the prognostic significanc of “liberal” vs “conservative” intubation criteria, and, finally, 5) a brief look to another Toronto article using multiple criteria to assemble various lists of what could be considered “the most influential” burn articles ever published.
