For those of you that are already friends of Sons of the Flag\, you know that our organization was founded in 2012\, and that our mission is to revolutionize burn care and quality of life for veterans\, first responders\, and families. \nSome of our programs include funding burn fellowships at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital\, a surgical program called Mission: Reconstruct Freedom\, capital funding for burn unit equipment\, fire prevention\, and direct burn survivor support. \nPlease mark your calendars for our annual luncheon to be held on Monday\, November 4 at Dallas Country Club. \nThe Luncheon will take place on Monday\, November 4\, 2024\, at Dallas Country Club\, and we are excited to announce a very special keynote speaker. When we first began Sons of the Flag in 2012\, we could only dream of the advancements we have enabled in the field of burn care. And with your continued support\, we can be even more successful in helping burn survivors. \nGuest of Honor \nMajor General (Ret.) John B. Richardson IV\, US Army \nA decorated combat veteran\, Major General Richardson served four combat tours in Iraq and a combat tour in Afghanistan.  His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal\, Defense Superior Service Medal with Combat device\, the Legion of Merit with Combat device\, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor\, and the Purple Heart. \nWe truly appreciate our donors for making these Burn Survivor programs possible through their generous gifts. \nPlease see the information below for levels of sponsorship. DESCRIPTION:Sons of the Flag LuncheonReserve Your Spot TodayEverything Red\, White and Blue! \nHonoring our Veterans and First Responders and celebrating over a decade of supporting burn survivors at Dallas Country Club! \nDallas Country Club \nMonday\, November 10\, 2025 \nCheck-in: Begins at 10:45 AM \nReception at 11:00 AM \nLuncheon: Begins at 11:30 AM \nKeynote Speaker \nRetired U.S. Army Sgt. Mario Lopez is a wounded warrior\, Purple Heart recipient\, and artist whose journey of resilience inspires audiences nationwide. Following the attacks of September 11th\, Mario enlisted in the Army in 2003\, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2008\, his vehicle struck an IED\, leaving him with burns over 54% of his body\, the loss of his right arm\, vision in his right eye\, and several fingers on his left hand. \nDespite life-changing injuries\, Mario found healing and purpose through his faith\, family\, and art. He taught himself to paint with his non-dominant hand and now showcases his work in galleries and exhibitions across the nation. He and his wife\, Danielle\, co-authored How I Know: A Story to Strengthen Your Faith\, and together share their testimony and message of perseverance. Today\, Mario is a proud Texan with a family of six and remains devoted to creating\, inspiring\, and reminding others that “Life Is Worth Living!” \nSpecial Guest of Honor \nMr. Don Graves\, WWII Marine Corps Veteran and Iwo Jima Survivor\, will open our ceremony performing “the greatest song ever written”\, our National Anthem. Mr. Graves is one of two remaining from his unit to have survived the tragic battle in the Pacific in World War II. Now 100-years-old\, he has attended the 80th and 81st Anniversaries of D-Day in Normandy\, and will travel to Pearl Harbor for the 84th Anniversary this year.
