SUMMARY:Country for Country 2024
DESCRIPTION:A Concert\, Dinner\, and Auction benefiting Sons of the Flag\n\n\n\nAaron Watson\nCONCERT AND COCKTAILS FOR A CAUSE!\n\n\nSaturday\, October 5 – Doors Open at 5:00 pm; Program Begins at 6:30 pm \nWilsons’ Barn (3R’s Ranch); 1695 Coit Rd.\, Prosper\, TX 75078 \nPlease email sherry@sonsoftheflag.org for additional details! \nEach year\, Sons of the Flag is proud to present our Country for Country Concert\, Dinner\, and Auction in Prosper\, Texas. We cannot thank the Pettis Family and Brown & Griffin Real Estate Advisors enough for their continued support as our Presenting Sponsors! \nAARON WATSON ~ 14 TX #1 SINGLES\, 10 TOP 10 ALBUMS\, AND NEARLY 3\,000 SHOWS \nAaron Watson’s career is perhaps summed up best by Forbes\, who says he’s “one of country music’s biggest DIY success stories.” For over 20 years\, Aaron Watson has traveled the land as country’s ultimate underdog troubadour – a truly independent artist with the spirit of the American frontier in his veins\, and a self-made empire to match. Working without corporate backers\, he has nonetheless reached the Top 10 of Billboard’s Country Album chart five separate times – an impressive feat by any standard – and that includes his triumphant 2015 set\, The Underdog\, which landed at #1\, becoming the first independent album in the history of country music to top the Billboard Country Albums chart. \nMatching sold-out shows across the country with homegrown hits\, he’s followed suit at country radio\, making history in 2017 when his single\, “Outta Style\,” went Top 10 on the BDS/Mediabase chart\, making Aaron one of only three independent artists in 30 years to achieve that feat. “Watson has made a career out of giving his fans music that focuses on the positive. Music that serves as a salve to what ails them. Music filled with light and joy and an abundance of pride for the country he calls home\,” said People.com of the 2021 American Soul album. Still pushing into the wind\, Unwanted Man finds a creative renegade continuing to do what he does best\, now working at the most “dangerous” level of his career. With a dozen additional records under his belt\, Watson is exceeding major-label-sized metrics while maintaining his independence\, further galvanizing his “Texas country’s reigning indie underdog” (Rolling Stone) brand. “There may be no more genuine singer-songwriter at the moment than Watson\,” says Texas Monthly\, pointing to a self-made businessman\, chart-topper\, and road warrior whose authenticity has made him a country music staple. \nWe hope you will join us in October\, to celebrate our 10th Annual Country for Country Event! For those of you that enjoy this fantastic event each year\, for those of you that have attended a few\, and for those of you whose first Country for Country show will be this year\, you are in for the best show yet\, with lots of surprises to honor this event’s 10th Year in Prosper! \nWe are so grateful to you for your support of Sons of the Flag\, a nonprofit organization that revolutionizes burn care for veterans\, first responders\, and families\, through funding for surgical programs\, burn fellowships\, capital funding for burn unit equipment\, and direct burn survivor support. \nAfter 10 years of this event\, and 12 years as a nonprofit\, Sons of the Flag is funding more burn survivor programs than ever through your generosity and friendship!

SUMMARY:2023 Stars and Stripes Luncheon and Red Carpet Event
DESCRIPTION:2023 Stars and Stripes Luncheon and Red Carpet Event!Stars & Stripes Luncheon and Red-Carpet Event! \nSons of the Flag is commemorating our “11-Year Anniversary”! We hope you will celebrate with us! \nThis year\, we are beyond honored to have Amy and Stephen Burgher\, and Pam and David Burgher\, Jr. as our event chairmen. \nWe are thrilled to present the 2023 Stars and Stripes Luncheon and Red-Carpet Event benefiting Sons of the Flag. For those of you that are already friends of Sons of the Flag\, you know that our organization was founded in 2012 by former Navy SEAL\, Ryan “Birdman” Parrott\, in response to learning of minimal advancements in burn care advancements since the Vietnam Era.  \nToday\, Sons of the Flag is revolutionizing burn care and quality of life for veterans\, first responders\, and families. Some of our programs include funding burn fellowships at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospital\, a surgical program called Mission: Reconstruct Freedom\, capital funding for burn unit equipment\, fire prevention\, and direct burn survivor support. \nPlease mark your calendars for our annual luncheon to be held on Monday\, November 6 at Dallas Country Club.  \nThe Luncheon will take place on Monday\, November 6\, 2023\, at Dallas Country Club\, and we are excited to announce a very special keynote speaker. When we first began Sons of the Flag in 2012\, we could only dream of the advancements we have enabled in the field of burn care. We are also extremely honored to have one of our veteran burn survivors\, as the keynote speaker for our luncheon\, to explain in his own words\, the transformation he has enjoyed as a result of our burn care programs. \nTodd Hornbuckle had a brilliant career as an Air Force and Navy pilot\, and later became a Delta Airlines commercial pilot\, before a failed engine in 2016 forced an emergency landing in the Texas Hill Country with his daughter aboard. His daughter survived unscathed\, while Todd suffered severe\, life-altering burns.  \nIn 2019\, Sons of the Flag met Todd when he applied for assistance through our website. At the time\, Mr. Hornbuckle would only allow phone conversations\, as he was so disfigured and did not go out in public. Fast forward\, four years to 2023. Todd has now participated five times in our Mission: Reconstruct Freedom surgical program and is going to perform the keynote speech at Sons of the Flag’s largest annual fundraising event! The burn surgeons associated with the Sons of the Flag program\, were able to completely transform Todd Hornbuckle\, and he is going to speak about overcoming adversity\, working as part of the team\, and about his new lease on life thanks to this program! \nA Special Benefit included in most sponsorship levels are movie passes to the Red-Carpet Film Screening and Patron Party on that prior evening\, Sunday\, November 5\, at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station.  \nThis year\, we will be screening the film\, Top Gun: Maverick. After the film is over\, Todd Hornbuckle\, along with special guest and graduate of the Navy’s elite Fighter Weapons School\, TOPGUN\, pilot\, Travis “Diesel” Allison\, will address the crowd for a Q&A session. \nWe truly appreciate our donors for making these Burn Survivor programs possible through their generous gifts. \nPlease see the information below for levels of sponsorship. Note\, that you can complete the information below electronically regarding your desired level and still mail in a check if you prefer that method of payment. Simply check the appropriate box when completing the form\, and it will instruct you to mail your payment to Sons of the Flag\, 12700 Park Central Drive\, Suite 304\, Dallas\, TX 75251. \n  \nA Special Benefit included in most sponsorship levels are movie passes to the Red-Carpet Movie Premiere and Patron Party on that prior evening\, Sunday\, November 6 at the SMU Meadows Museum. \nWe truly appreciate our donors for making these Burn Survivor programs possible through their generous gifts. \nLuncheonPlease mark your calendars for our annual luncheon to be held on Monday\, November 6 at Dallas Country Club.  \nRed CarpetThe Red-Carpet Film Screening and Patron Party on that prior evening\, Sunday\, November 5\, at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station \nKeynote Speakers: Todd HornbuckleWe truly appreciate our donors for making our Burn Survivor programs possible through their generous gifts. \nATTEND. We cannot thank the Pettis Family enough for their continued support! \nThis year\, we are so excited to share with you that our featured artist will be Kevin Fowler! \nKevin Fowler has found a way to live the dream – by earning it.  It’s never been an easy or short road\, but it’s a path he wouldn’t trade and has positioned him as one of the most consistent artists\, in any genre\, of the last two decades.  His musical journey began playing in rock bands before finding his footing as a solo act in the early 2000s in his home state of Texas\, where he burst onto the scene with the celebrated album Beer Bait and Ammo – a mainstay for fans to this day.  And while his songs have been covered by Country Music mainstays such as George Jones\, Mark Chesnutt\, Montgomery Gentry\, Sammy Kershaw and others – Kevin’s versions of these songs are feelgood classics that rival the most well-known and memorable songs of any of his contemporaries. Fowler released nine additional albums over the following years after Beer Bait and Ammo\, including his most recent solo effort 2019’s Barstool Stories produced by Trent Wilmon and the collaborative project with Roger Creager- the self-titled Dos Borrachos.  Fowler is currently in the process of writing and recording new music. \nWe are also excited to share with you\, that Wynn Williams and Grant Gilbert will be opening this concert showcase! \nWe hope you will join us in September for this fantastic show\, and more importantly\, to show your support for Sons of the Flag\, a nonprofit organization that revolutionizes burn care for veterans\, first responders\, and families\, through funding for surgical programs\, burn fellowships\, capital funding for burn unit equipment\, and direct burn survivor support. \n\n\nAbout Sons of the FlagFounded by former Navy SEAL Ryan “Birdman” Parrott\, Sons of the Flag is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting Burn Survivors\, by revolutionizing burn care through funding for Medical Fellowships\, funding for Burn Unit needs across the country\, including our very own UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospitals\, and offering direct assistance to Burn Survivors and their families.
